Welcome to the Home page of Pens of Distinction We are a small business based in Glenrothes in Fife, Scotland and have been in business since 2001. Originally started in a home workshop making wooden-barrelled pens and supplied in wooden boxes, we are now in our second business workshop of about 900 square feet. Originally I started making wooden-barrelled pens and supplying them in wooden boxes. I used to send my pens and boxes away to be laser engraved but 4 years ago I purchased a laser to engrave them myself. This gave me a lot of benefits, chiefly, a faster turnaround for customer’s orders and also the ability to experiment with new products with laser engraving on them. We now offer beech rim coasters, slate coasters, wooden fridge magnets, keyrings,  nameplates for bedroom doors,  ‘cludgie’ and ‘oor cludgie’ signs for bathroom doors We cut all our own logs with a chainsaw mill to make into planks of timber and then dry them in a kiln to ensure they are down to a suitable moisture content for making into bespoke furniture for all sorts of customers. Some of these planks are crafted into log slice mirrors, which are totally unique, in size colour and shape and make ideal presents for the person or couple who have everything, or for a wedding present that is a little bit different. We are continually developing new products and are happy to work with both private individuals, charities or the corporate sector to bring ideas to life. I am a qualified designer and maker of furniture and am happy making a one-off as I am making 1000 off.
